MedCentral Health System in Mansfield, Ohio, is facing a lawsuit from a former employee who claims he was fired for exposing a potential kickback scheme, according to a Mansfield News Journal report.
James Carver, a former logistics coordinator, alleges kickbacks received by employees from vendor Open Systems in exchange for purchasing agreements were sanctioned by the health system, according to the report.
Mr. Carver was fired Jan. 21, and claims his termination was because he repeatedly tried to expose the scheme, according to the report.
Mr. Carver's attorneys claim the system violated the federal Anti-Kickback Law and Stark Law, as well as various state laws, according to the report.
