Home health company owner accused in $3M Medicaid fraud scheme

The owner of a St. Louis-area home health company is accused of a more than decade-long scheme that defrauded Missouri's Medicaid program out of more than $3 million.

Camille Childress, 40, owner of Inspiring Angels, allegedly concealed her ownership from Missouri officials due to a 2012 criminal conviction, according to a Nov. 1 Justice Department news release. She also submitted fraudulent claims to Medicaid for services that were never performed.

In some cases, the care recipients were in the hospital and could not have received home health care, according to the release. In other cases, she or the company submitted claims when the company did not have any timesheet records or documentation of the services because the services in those claims were never provided.

Ms. Childress was indicted on four counts of healthcare fraud, according to the release.
