Florida physician under investigation after video captures altercation with patient over wait times

A Florida physician at Gainesville After-Hours Clinic is under criminal investigation after a video recorded Monday night shows the provider arguing with a patient over her wait time and snatching away the phone of the patient's daughter after he discovered he was being recorded, according to a report from The Gainesville Sun

Here are five things to know.

1. In the video, patient Jessica Stipe says her appointment time was 6:30 p.m., but that she hadn't been seen as of 7:45 p.m. Peter Gallogly, MD, then approaches Ms. Stipe and says he's already taken a urine sample from the patient.

2. After being asked if she wants to be seen, Ms. Stipe says she wants to go home and that she feels miserable.

"If you go to CareSpot, you're waiting for three hours. Go to the ER (emergency room) and wait for nine hours," Dr. Gallogly says in the video. "Get the [expletive deleted] out of my office."

3. After opening the door for Ms. Stipe and her daughter, Dr. Gallogly realizes he is being recorded by the daughter, swipes away her phone and heads back into the clinic.

4. Ms. Stipe posted the video to her Facebook page on Monday evening. By Tuesday afternoon, the video had nearly 100,000 views and more than 2,000 shares.

5. Officer Ben Tobias, a spokesman for the Gainesville Police, told The Gainesville Sun the police department launched a criminal investigation into Dr. Gallogly after the Monday evening incident.
