Baltimore-area hospital ED evacuated after person displays weapon

Westminster, Md.-based Carroll Hospital activated its assailant protocol and evacuated the emergency department May 13, CBS News reported.

A person entered the emergency department and displayed a weapon, which prompted the emergency room to be evacuated. Police and hospital security responded and were able to deescalate the situation, according to Sharon Boston, a spokesperson for LifeBridge Health, of which Carroll Hospital is an affiliate. 

No injuries occurred during the incident and the invididual was taken into custody. The emergency department was reopened about 90 minutes after the evacuation.
