39 recently unsealed False Claims Act cases: 5 things to know

The trends in 39 recently unsealed False Claims Act cases were identified in a recent National Law Reviewreport.

Here are five things to know about the unsealed cases.

1. The government declined to intervene in 21 of the cases and intervened in full in five of the cases.

2. Twenty-one of the cases involved both state and federal claims.

3. Whistle-blowers voluntarily dismissed seven of the cases, and five of the cases have settled.

4. Eight of the cases included claims for retaliation.

5. Many of the whistle-blowers were former employees of the defendants.
