Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island Lays Off 2 Top Executives, 5 Others

Pawtucket-based Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island has laid off seven employees, including two top executives, who were not named, according to a Providence Journal report.

Two of the affected employees worked in the hospital's print shop, and three worked in facilities management, according to the report.

The hospital is facing financial pressure due to reduced reimbursements, lower patient volume and increased charity care. Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island is also cutting costs through attrition.
