Cleveland-based University Hospitals has taken on full ownership of 204-bed St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio.
University Hospitals has an established relationship with St. John Medical Center, as UH and Cleveland-based Sisters of Charity Health System took on co-ownership of the hospital in 1999.
In August, UH and SCHS signed an agreement to transfer sole ownership of St. John Medical Center to UH.
"We see full ownership by University Hospitals as the next logical step in the progress of our shared vision," said University Hospitals CEO Thomas F. Zenty III. "We have the deepest respect for the healing ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System and look to sustain this legacy of care far into the future by bringing new programs and services to St. John while integrating care with our other hospitals and facilities in the area."
