San Antonio-based University Health System has formally ended discussions with Irving, Texas-based Christus Health about building a freestanding children's hospital, according to a San Antonio Business Journal report.
UHS and Christus signed a memorandum of understanding in December 2010 to develop a children's hospital. The agreement expired at the end of 2011, and with no progress made on the project, UHS formally notified Christus that it is ending discussions.
However, UHS will continue to seek options for developing a children's hospital and network pediatric outpatient services.
