King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services is partnering with Vera Whole Health, a Seattle-based primary care company, to improve health outcomes of its health plan members.
UHS said the partnership will allow it to "add advanced primary care services" to its network of more than 350 hospitals and behavioral health facilities.
Vera Whole Health is best known for its primary care model that focuses on employee health and lowering costs with value-based approaches.
The first primary care centers will open in Reno and Carson City, Nev.
Under the deal, UHS has acquired a minority equity stake in the company.
"Adding Vera's advanced primary care model expands our reach via a unique model of on-site care centers that provide members with the kind of primary care that addresses their whole health, including physical, social and psychological, and not simply the treatment of symptoms," said Marc Miller, UHS president.
