University of California, San Francisco, Medical Center and Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland (Calif.) have signed an affiliation agreement, according to a San Francisco Business Times report.
The agreement — which is set to close in early 2014 — includes the hospitals' joint operation of the Children's Oakland current physician foundation, BayChildren's Physicians, according to the report. Both UCSF and Children's Oakland would maintain separate licenses and boards.
Under the agreement, most Children's Oakland employees wouldn't become UCSF employees. However, Children's Oakland top officers including the hospital's CEO Bert Lubin, MD; Kathleen Cain, the hospital's CFO and senior vice president; Richard DeCarlo, COO and executive vice president; and the chief of pediatrics, David Durand, MD, would become UCSF employees, according to the report.
Before finalization, the agreement is subject to due diligence, regulatory approvals and approval by the chairman of the University of California Regents' Committee on Health Services, according to the report.
