Columbia, S.C.-based Palmetto Health and Sumter, S.C.-based Tuomey Healthcare System have finalized their merger, a deal which has been in the works since February.
With the transaction completed, Tuomey becomes Palmetto Health Tuomey. Michelle Logan-Owen, who has been serving as president and CEO of Tuomey since June, will oversee the operations of Palmetto Health Tuomey as the system's COO.
Charles D. Beaman Jr., CEO of Palmetto Health, showed excitement about the transaction. "Today we welcome our newest team members, physicians and volunteers to Palmetto Health as part of Palmetto Health Tuomey. Many of us from Palmetto Health and the former Tuomey Healthcare System have been working together for several months to bring our partnership together. Today we are one," he said.
