St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, N.D., has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network operated by Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
The Mayo Clinic Care Network allows members to share expertise and best practices to improve the quality and delivery of healthcare. According to the release, the primary goal is to help patients gain the benefits of Mayo Clinic knowledge and expertise close to home. Membership is a non-ownership relationship. Healthcare organizations in states such as Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire and Florida are part of the network.
St. Alexius is the first medical center in western North Dakota to pass Mayo's rigorous review process and be selected as a member of the network, according to the release. Physicians at St. Alexius will be able to connect with Mayo Clinic specialists in an electronic consulting technique called eConsults, according to the release. They will also have access to Mayo-vetted medical information through the AskMayoExpert database, according to the report.
