Providence Health & Services, based in Renton, Wash., and Seattle-based Swedish Health Services have finalized their affiliation, according to a joint news release.
Providence will retain its Catholic identity and name and Swedish will retain its name and non-religious identity.
As part of the agreement, Swedish joins with Providence's Northwest and Southwest Washington state operations. The affiliation creates a new organization to serve the region of Swedish operations in King and South Snohomish counties and Providences' operations in King, Snohomish, Thurston and Lewis counties.
Additionally, Providence and Swedish have announced leadership changes as a result the partnership. Providence has named Arnie Schaffer executive vice president and CEO of the new Western Washington state region. Swedish has named Kevin Brown CEO.
