Georgia's Office of the Attorney General has ruled in favor of the partnership between Covington, Ga.-based Newton Medical Center and Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare, and Newton Medical Center will become Piedmont Newton Hospital, effective Oct. 1.
The two organizations announced the terms of the partnership agreement in May. Since then, Piedmont and Newton have worked together to align the organizations to meet the needs of the community.
"As a result of this partnership, our community will have access to even more specialists and healthcare services," said James Weadick, CEO of Newton. "We're excited the Attorney General has given us the green light to move forward with our partnership."
