Penn State Health, the parent company of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, and Lancaster, Pa.-based Physicians' Alliance revealed plans to embark on a strategic partnership.
Under the agreement, the 120-member physician group will integrate all of its practices and staff into Penn State Health. The partnership will also include the complete acquisition of the Central Penn Management Group, a physician management services organization also in Lancaster.
Officials from both organizations' boards have approved the partnership, which will go into effect in the fall. The exact transition date has not yet been determined.
"A fundamental goal of Penn State Health is to provide patients with high-quality, cost-effective care as close to home as possible. This formal partnership with PAL physicians and staff helps us to greatly advance that goal,” said Craig Hillemeier, MD, CEO of Penn State Health. "No patient should have to travel to Philadelphia, Pittsburgh or Baltimore to get the advanced care they need."
