Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Mount Carmel Health System, both based in Columbus, Ohio, have signed an affiliation agreement that will allow the two health systems to work closer on clinical care and improve care coordination in the area.
The deal is not a merger, and both organizations will still operate as independent health systems. Financial details were not disclosed.
Under the affiliation agreement, OSU Wexner Medical Center and Mount Carmel will operate an integrated OB/GYN residency program, invest in Madison County Hospital in London, Ohio, allow OSU medical students to conduct rotations at Mount Carmel hospitals, invest in primary care and root out waste through financial alignment.
