The public board heading the redevelopment of Methodist Hospital in New Orleans is seeking private partners who could help fund and potentially operate the facility, which is slated to open in fall 2013, according to a Times-Picayune report.
Members of the Orleans Parish Hospital Service District A Board voted without dissent yesterday to solicit potential partners that could displace existing plans for Baton Rouge, La.-based Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System to run the new hospital.
An operating alliance was reached with the Franciscan system in January, but the agreement doesn't call for Franciscan to put up money needed to reopen the hospital.
The request for proposals will be published in the coming weeks and aims to solicit a wide range of suitors, from developers who would finance all or part of a renovation to a partner who would be both an equity partner and operator, according to the report.
