Executives at MedWest, a three-hospital system based in Clyde, N.C., said all three hospitals are still potentially looking to sell or merge, and one of its hospitals will have a public hearing next week regarding the matter, according to a Smoky Mountain News report.
MedWest has examined its transaction options since March, when it first considered splitting from its current operator, Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, N.C. In May, MedWest said it would official start accepting proposals for potential partners.
MedWest-Haywood, a 189-bed hospital based in Clyde, is the only public hospital of the three and therefore must hold a hearing, according to the report. MedWest officials did not give further information about the other two hospitals, MedWest-Harris in Sylva, N.C., and MedWest-Swain in Bryson City, N.C.
