The board of Manning, S.C.-based Clarendon Health System finalized the agreement with Florence, S.C.-based McLeod Health to merge the two facilities, effective Tuesday, according to Clarendon hospital officials.
The 81-bed facility in Manning will be renamed McLeod Health Clarendon.
As part of the agreement, McLeod Health will assume the debt obligations of Clarendon Health, which will result in a reduction of roughly $8 million dollars in taxes for ClarendonCounty property owners.
McLeod will acquire the hospital, wellness center and nine medical practices and will manage the hospital-owned and operated EMS service. The Clarendon Hospital District will continue to oversee operations of its three nursing facilities.
Officials hope to minimize consolidation impacts on Clarendon staff and will review possible alternatives for those individuals impacted by staffing adjustments.
McLeod and Clarendon first expressed interest in a potential partnership in early May.
