The Whitney (Texas) Hospital Authority is currently managing the embattled Lake Whitney Medical Center, but officials are looking to sell the hospital to another operator, according to a Lakelander report.
Lake Whitney Medical Center nearly closed its doors in July, but Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based Frontier Hospitals stepped in at the beginning of August with a 30-day lease-purchase agreement.
However, at the end of August, Frontier terminated its agreement with Lake Whitney Medical Center, forcing the hospital authority to step in. Officials have said several groups have expressed interest in buying the hospital, including an unnamed group based in Waco, Texas. The hospital authority hopes to sell the facility within 30 days, according to the report.
