Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth and Novant Health in Winston-Salem, N.C. formed a joint venture to file a Certificate of Need application to build a 68-bed, freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Winston-Salem, according to HealthSouth officials.
The new hospital will provide comprehensive, inpatient care to patients who have experienced a stroke, trauma, brain injury, complex orthopedic conditions or other major illnesses or injuries.
"We are continually reviewing patient needs in the communities we serve and have found that the demand for rehabilitative care is significantly increasing," said Stephen Motew, MD, president of Novant Health. "This joint venture…includes the latest in rehabilitative technology and state-of-the-art facilities that ensures our patients receive affordable, convenient and remarkable care for a variety of health needs."
