HCA's Acquisition of HealthONE Doesn't Include Guard Against Hospital Closures

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA's plans to acquire the Colorado Health Foundation's shares of its Denver-based joint venture HCA-HealthOne for $1.45 billion would not include a guarantee that HCA would keep all of the HealthOne hospitals open, according to a Denver Post report.

The foundation board is reportedly still negotiating with HCA over whether the for-profit operator would allow the current joint venture hospitals to continue to treat non-emergency Medicaid patients, according to the report.

A preliminary acquisition agreement is currently being reviewed by the Colorado attorney general.
