HCA acquires 2 Texas surgery centers

Surgery Ventures, operated by Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, has acquired majority stakes in two ambulatory surgery centers in North Texas and will manage day-to-day operations at both facilities, a spokesperson for the health system told Becker's.

Both of the ASCs are affiliated with Dallas-based Medical City Healthcare, which is now affiliated with 15 surgery centers in North Texas, HCA said in a Jan. 22 news release.

Medical City Surgery Center of North Texas in Anna, formerly known as Surgery Center of North Texas, has 14 physician partners. The 23,000-square-foot ASC opened in 2020 and includes five operating rooms and 15 pre-op/post-anesthesia care unit bays.

Medical City Surgery Center Allen, formerly Allen Surgery Center, has eight physician partners. It spans 12,500 square feet and features three operating rooms and 14 pre-op/PACU bays.

HCA's Surgery Ventures now operates and jointly owns more than 150 ASCs and is affiliated with 3,400 physicians in 16 states, according to its website. Its surgery centers provided care to more than 800,000 patients in 2023.
