In a letter to community members, El Centro (Calif.) Regional Medical Center CEO David Green said the 165-bed, city-owned hospital has narrowed its list of "several" potential affiliation partners.
Mr. Green said he wanted the process to be as transparent as possible, but he did not name the potential hospitals or systems, saying "some discussions and information must remain confidential along the way."
According to the letter, ECRMC will choose a partner based on several factors, including the ability to recruit physicians and practitioners to the area, grow specialties and other services, provide capital, help in the supply chain and share best practices to improve quality.
In May, the city council of El Centro hired consulting firm Hammond Hanlon Camp to evaluate the benefits of a potential sale, lease or affiliation.
