Downers Grove, Ill.-based DuPage Medical Group, Chicago area's largest independent physician group, continues to grow rapidly. In its latest conquest, DMG has set its sights on acquiring a majority stake in a Naperville, Ill.-based outpatient surgery center for $1.7 million, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Earlier this year, DMG received a $250 million minority investment from Summit Partners, a Boston-based global growth equity firm, which created a new entity, DMG Practice Management Solutions. The partnership provided DMG capital and support to grow its service lines and footprint.
The surgery center DMG plans to acquire a stake in, the Naperville Surgical Centre, is physician owned and part of Chicago-based Advocate Health Care. If the proposed acquisition is approved, DMG Practice Management Solutions would take a 75 percent stake in Naperville Surgical Centre, and the remaining ownership would be split between Advocate and Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates, according to the report.
