Charleston Area Medical Center acquires West Virginia hospital from Community Health Systems

Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center, part of Vandalia Health, acquired Ronceverte, W.Va.-based Greenbrier Valley Medical Center from Community Health Systems Jan. 1, according to MetroNews.

Greenbrier Valley will keep its "unique historical identity" with the Vandalia Health name, according to the report. David Ramsey, Vandalia Health president and CEO, said the system plans to expand services and add physicians, staff and equipment to Greenbrier Valley.

He also said the system plans to continue growing Charleston Area Medical Center through acquisitions.
