Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care System announced it has completed a merger with Caldwell Memorial Hospital based in Lenoir, N.C., effective May 1.
The merger agreement was announced in November, under which UNC would become the sole owner of the hospital, invest $35 million for capital improvements over five years, contribute $4 million to the CMH Foundation and maintain current management, staffing, services and local governance.
