Advocate Healthcare, Cadence Health Compete to Merge With Sherman Health

Winfield, Ill.-based Cadence Health and Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Healthcare are finalists to merge with Sherman Health in Elgin, Ill., according to a Kane County Chronicle report.

According to the report, Sherman Health solicited proposals from five potential partners: Cadence Health; Advocate Healthcare; St. Louis-based Ascension Health, parent company of Alexian Brothers Health System in Arlington Heights, Ill.; Rush University Medical Center in Chicago; and Trinity Health in Novi, Mich., which operates the Loyola University Health System in Maywood, Ill., and Mercy Health System in Chicago.

Sherman Health narrowed the list to Cadence and Advocate because they offered "governance models that allow for local voice," access to capital and meet Sherman's standards for technological capabilities and "physician collaboration efforts," Sherman spokesperson, Tonya Lucchetti-Hudson, told the Kane County Chronicle.

Correction: A previous version of this article listed Ascension Health as based in Indianapolis. The health system is based in St. Louis.
