1.Sale of 6 California hospitals to Prime approved — with strict conditions
California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris conditionally approved a transaction allowing Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services to acquire six hospitals from Los Altos, Calif.-based Daughters of Charity Health System.
2. Ascension to purchase Michigan health insurer for $50M
A subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ascension Health intends to buy U.S. Health and Life Insurance, based in Sterling Heights, Mich., for $50 million.
3. Partners HealthCare abandons deal to acquire South Shore Hospital
Boston-based Partners HealthCare backed out of a deal to acquire SouthShoreHospital in Weymouth, Mass.
4. Partners HealthCare CEO: Merger deal with Hallmark Health on 'pause'
Boston-based Partners HealthCare is holding off on its plans to merge Melrose, Mass.-based Hallmark Health System into its system.
5. St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center signs preliminary agreement with unnamed health system
Syracuse, N.Y.-based St. Joseph's HospitalHealthCenter signed a non-binding preliminary agreement to join a large unnamed nonprofit health system.
6. UPMC, Jameson Health approve definitive merger agreement
The boards of directors of Jameson Health System, based in New Castle, Pa., and Pittsburgh-based UPMC formally approved a definitive agreement to merge Jameson Health into the UPMC network.
