Hospital Corporation of America has signed a letter of intent to purchase Mercy Hospital in Miami, according to a news release.
Mercy's board of directors voted to sell the facility to HCA, citing the company's presence in south Florida and consistent provision of quality care.
Mercy Hospital operates 473 beds and has been in operation for 60 years. The hospital will retain its name and continue to serve as a Catholic acute care hospital but will be owned and operated by HCA.
