California's Corcoran District Hospital Considering "Life-or-Death" Partnership

Corcoran (Calif.) District Hospital's board of directors approved an agreement to enter talks with Hanford, Calif.-based Adventist Health Central Valley Network about a possible takeover, according to a Hanford Sentinel report.

The report said Corcoran officials called the decision "life-or-death" to ensure healthcare in the rural community. Corcoran Hospital Board Vice Chairman Karl Kassner said the hospital doesn't "have the finances to sustain the hospital" without a partnership. "If we're not going to a partnership, we will fail," he said in the report.

Both healthcare organizations will share information under the current agreement to see what type of partnership, ranging from a management accord to a total takeover, could occur.
