New York physician dies in snowmobile crash

Mark Funt, MD, a New York physician, died in a snowmobile crash March 10, the Village Times Herald reported.

Dr. Funt, 75, was riding his snowmobile along Main Street in Cavendish, Vt., when it crashed. The incident is under investigation by the Vermont State police, according to the report. 

Dr. Funt was the chief of gynecology at Stony Brook (N.Y.) University and is credited with starting its obstetrics and gynecology residency program. He lectured across the country and won numerous awards.

He is survived by his wife, mother, brother, sisters, sons and grandchildren, the report said.
