Las Vegas-based Valley Health System is launching eight new residency programs in Southern Nevada set to begin by July 1, 2017, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The programs will be hosted at Valley Health's Centennial Hills, Desert Springs, Spring Valley and Summerlin hospitals located in Las Vegas, according to the report. The programs will include the following:
- Emergency medicine
- Family medicine
- General surgery
- Internal medicine
- OB/GYN
- Orthopedic surgery
- Psychiatry
- Transitional program for residents who plan to specialize
The number of residency spots in each program is not yet determined, according to the report. Andrew Eisen, MD, a pediatrician and the system's chief academic officer, will coordinate the programs.
The system already offers residencies, which have graduated 142 residents and fellows as of September since their inception in 2006, according to the report.
