UPMC Increases Number of Employed Physicians

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has increased the number of physicians on its payroll by 12 percent, according to a Pittsburgh Business Times report.

UPMC now has 3,321 employed physicians after adding 367 to its payroll in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013. The additional physicians have generated $4.38 million in revenue in the first quarter, an increase from $4.13 million in the same period a year ago, according to the report.
