5 Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Physician Recruitment Firm

Recruiting physicians can be a daunting task, and some hospitals and health systems choose to hire a physician recruitment firm to assist in the process.

Enterprise Medical Services provided five questions hospitals and health systems should consider when choosing their physician recruitment firm in a release posted by the St. Louis Dispatch. Those questions are:

1. How do recruitment firms source candidates? This should include advertising the position through various outlets and reaching active and passive candidates, according to the release.

2. What is the candidate screening process? The firm should speak with physicians personally.

3. What is the recruiter's experience in physician recruitment? It can be helpful for hospitals to ask for references for their recruiter.

4. What is the recruiter's knowledge base of the medical specialty of need? Recruiters with specialty-specific skills can have the advantage of deeper knowledge of one or two specialties rather than general knowledge of medical recruitment as a whole, according to the release.

5. Is the firm familiar with the community?
