Lynda Young, MD, and Elvira Guardiola were named chair and vice chair of Worcester, Mass.-based UMass Memorial Health's board of trustees, respectively.
Dr. Young is UMass Memorial Health's first female chair, and Ms. Guardiola is the health system's first female, Latina vice chair, according to a March 1 news release shared with Becker's.
A board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Young is a pediatrics professor at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in Worcester. Previously, she was chief of the division of community pediatrics at UMass Memorial Medical Center's Children's Medical Center and chaired the UMass Memorial Medical Group board.
Ms. Guardiola works as the parking administrator and municipal hearing officer for the city of Worcester. She also chairs UMass Memorial Health's community benefits committee.
