Time's Up Healthcare, an organization dedicated to addressing sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the medical field, on Dec. 16 named Lauren Powell, MD, its first executive director, it announced on Twitter.
Dr. Powell comes to the role from the Virginia Department of Health, where she serves as the director of health equity. Dr. Powell takes on the role at Time's Up Healthcare on Jan. 15, according to STAT. "I'm really looking forward to making this a movement that is accessible to all people who are interested in working with us," she told STAT in an interview.
"Achieving equity in healthcare has been my life's work. At this critical inflection point in the healthcare industry, I'm thrilled to bring my experience and deeply-rooted commitment to equity and inclusion to [Time's Up Healthcare] as its first executive director," Dr. Powell said on Twitter.
