Stanford (Calif.) University has formalized the mission of a council that will help coordinate strategic and operational efforts pertaining to the Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford.
Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne, PhD, has also appointed Randy Livingston, vice president of business affairs and CFO at Stanford, as university liaison for Stanford Medicine. Mr. Livingston will retain his business roles while also working to ensure coordination and collaboration between the university and Stanford Medicine.
The Stanford Medicine Advisory Council has existed for years, but its formalization will renew its focus on reviewing Stanford Medicine's strategic plan and potential financial transactions.
"Although the advisory council has been in existence for a few years, the decision to revise and formalize its charter emerged from conversation with many people, including our clinical faculty chairs and biomedical leaders, about how we could all better engage and more effectively collaborate," Dr. Tessier-Lavigne said. "It was also clear that we needed a designated person from the university to be a liaison, to bring new ideas and initiatives to our attention. I'm pleased Randy has agreed to serve in this key role."
