San Diego-based Scripps Health is expanding its HealthExpress walk-in clinics to 12 new locations within already existing Scripps clinics.
The first new HealthExpress clinic will be in Carlsbad, Calif., and the next 11 locations will open in clinics across San Diego County over the next three months.
"More than ever, consumers are looking for convenient health care services that fit into their busy schedule," said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps. "HealthExpress is designed to provide high-quality medical services close to where people live and work. That's why we are expanding this concept across the county."
The HealthExpress clinics will be overseen by physicians from Scripps Clinic Medical Group and Scripps Coastal Medical Group and staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Patients will be able to call a nurse triage line before they arrive at the clinic to determine the appropriate course of care.
"Scripps HealthExpress is designed to meet the needs of patients who are looking for the convenience of a same-day, walk-in clinic," said Siu Ming Geary, MD, vice president of primary care for Scripps Clinic Medical Group. "We aim to provide a high level of service that coordinates seamlessly with the care provided by patients’ primary care doctors."
