HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, said the Senate healthcare bill "provide[s] Americans with much needed relief from Obamacare" in a June 22 statement. He hailed the proposal for protecting patients, bringing down the cost of insurance coverage and expanding healthcare choices.
Dr. Price said the ACA caused premiums to "skyrocket" across the country, leading many Americans to drop coverage or be "forced to pay a penalty to Uncle Sam just for the right to go without."
"The Senate's proposal is built on patient-centered reforms that put the American people in charge of their healthcare decisions, not government," Dr. Price said. "The Trump Administration is committed to the health of all Americans."
