Vibra Hospital of Fort Wayne (Ind.), a long-term acute care hospital, will lay off 120 employees when it closes Jan. 31, according to Inside Indiana Business.
The hospital's owner, Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Vibra Healthcare, largely attributed the closure to healthcare reimbursement changes.
"We very much regret that we had to make this decision. It has not been an easy one," Sean McCarthy, group division president, said in a statement obtained by Inside Indiana Business. "The recent changes in healthcare reimbursement have made this hospital extremely difficult to maintain. We will do everything possible to minimize the impact on patients, their families and our dedicated employees."
The Fort Wayne facility is not the only Vibra Hospital slated for closure. Vibra Hospital of Springfield (Ill.), a 50-bed, for-profit, long-term care facility, will close by March 31.
Vibra Hospital of Northwestern Indiana in Crown Point will remain open.
