Houston Methodist Hospital recently added two new members to its security team — robots named Watson and Holmes, reports ABC 13 Eyewitness News.
Watson and Holmes represent the first robots of their kind to be used in a U.S. hospital. The robots have 360-degree video capabilities, thermal cameras and a two-way audio system to help security personnel patrol the facility. The robots also have an emergency button that anyone in the hospital can press to contact security.
"Methodist is the largest hospital in Houston. You see how many people we see in and out, how many visitors we have, so safety is very important to us. That's our number one priority for both visitors [and] patients," Hadji Sarr, Houston Methodist's director of public safety, told Eyewitness News. "This is just another addition to be able to see what's going on."
