Lawrence Massa, former CEO of the Minnesota Hospital Association, died Nov. 22 from cancer, according to the West Central Tribune.
Mr. Massa led the MHA for 11 years before he retired in September 2019. He also previously helmed Willmar, Minn.-based Rice Memorial Hospital as CEO for 14 years before leaving to lead the MHA in 2008.
As leader of the MHA, Mr. Massa helped Minnesota expand Medicaid and expanded the state's quality and patient safety improvement work with CMS.
While at Rice Memorial, Mr. Massa led joint ventures to expand the hospital's medical offices and oversaw several partnerships with other healthcare providers.
