There were seven hospital layoffs that affected more than 450 employees in November, signaling fewer layoffs in the last months of 2011, according to an American Medical News report.
According to the report, there will have been 120 mass layoffs at hospitals and more than 7,800 affected employees by the end of 2011. However, these estimates are below 2009 and 2010. In 2009, 152 mass layoffs at hospitals affected 11,787 employees. In 2010, 137 mass layoffs occurred at hospitals, affecting 10,490 employees.
