Michael L. Rhodes, director of administration and management at the U.S. Department of Defense, swore in Dana Deasy as the department's CIO May 7.
Here are three things to know about Mr. Deasy's role as CIO.
1. In this role, Mr. Deasy will oversee communications and cybersecurity for the DOD, including how the department manages and uses information.
2. Prior to joining the DOD, Mr. Deasy served as CIO of JPMorgan Chase & Co., managing 40,000-plus IT professionals.
3. Mr. Deasy will replace Essye Miller, deputy CIO for cybersecurity and senior information security officer at the DOD, who assumed the role of acting CIO in December.
