The following healthcare layoffs have been reported by Becker's Hospital Review since Jan. 30.
1. Independent California hospital lays off 10-15 employees, paper reports
Arcata, Calif.-based Mad River Community Hospital laid off employees due to what it said was a need to centralize clinic services.
2. Texas children's health system to lay off nearly 100
Dallas-based Children's Health announced plans to close its home care division and lay off employees.
3. Kaiser Permanente lays off nearly 200 in Colorado
Kaiser Permanente Colorado, the state's largest insurer, notified nearly 200 employees that they are being laid off.
4. Cerner to lay off 129 from Georgia project
Cerner plans to eliminate 129 jobs as part of its contract with Augusta University Health in Georgia ends, effective March 31.
5. Vermont health system cuts jobs, wages to stay afloat
Springfield (Vt.) Medical Care Systems is cutting 27 jobs and lowering wages as part of a $6.5 million cost-cutting plan.
6. 196 Iowa health system employees will be laid off but keep jobs
Davenport, Iowa-based Genesis Health System announced plans to lay off nearly 200 employees in June. The layoffs are associated with the system's recent merger with Johnston, Iowa-based senior care and hospice provider WesleyLife. Laid-off employees will still have jobs as they become employees of the joint organization.
