Tufts Medical Center in Boston has filed a lawsuit against the National Kidney Foundation, alleging the foundation owes $1.4 million for research and assistance hospital researchers provided in drafting diagnosis and treatment guidelines for kidney disease, according to a Boston Globe report.
According to the report, Tufts Medical Center and the foundation began working together in 1997 and entered into a formal three-year contract in 2009.
The hospital, which filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts, also alleges the National Kidney Foundation owes more than $912,000 for work that will be done by the end of June when the hospital's contract with the foundation expires. Tufts Medical Center does not believe the foundation will pay up for either sum, according to the report.
