Wilkes Medical Center president to retire in January: 4 notes

Gene Faile, president of North Wilkesboro, N.C.-based Wilkes Medical Center, will retire Jan. 31, according to a Winston-Salem Journal report.

Here are four notes:

1. Mr. Faile became president of the hospital 10 years ago.

2. He spearheaded the hospital's merger with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Health in July 2017.

3. He has served on the board of the The Health Foundation, as well as on the policy development committee of the N.C. Hospital Association from 2014 to 2016.

4. Chad Brown, president of Wake Forest Baptist's Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run, N.C., will succeed Mr. Faile. Mr. Brown will serve as president of both hospitals.
