Karen Jones, MD, has been named senior vice president of York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health and president of WellSpan Medical Group.
Here are three things to know about Dr. Jones.
1. Dr. Jones, who previously served as vice president and CMO for the WellSpan Medical Group, will now assume full responsibility for the performance and strategic direction of the medical group and all of its practices throughout Adams, Lancaster, Lebanon and York counties in Pennsylvania. The medical group comprises more than 850 physicians and advanced practice clinicians.
2. In her previous role, Dr. Jones led a number of key strategic initiatives for the WellSpan Medical Group, such as the implementation of patient-centered medical homes as part of WellSpan's redesigned patient care model. She also led the development of WellSpan's online physician dashboard, which helps physicians in the medical group to improve quality through the use of real-time data.
Dr. Jones also led the medical group's drive to ensure high-quality, valued, integrated care throughout WellSpan.
3. She was physician champion to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded Aligning Forces for Quality project in south central Pennsylvania. The initiative brought together providers, consumers and payers for the purpose of improving quality, engaging patients and reducing unnecessary utilization of health care services.
