Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth University Health System appointed two interim leaders.
Peter Buckley, MD, will become interim vice president for VCU Health Sciences and interim CEO of VCU Health System. He is the dean of the VCU School of Medicine in Richmond and executive vice president for medical affairs at VCU Health System. He will continue in those roles in addition to his interim leadership duties.
He is the incoming chair of the Council of Deans of the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Dr. Buckley replaces Marsha Rappley, MD, who plans to retire in January.
Ralph R. Clark, MD, will serve as interim CEO of VCU Hospitals and Clinics, effective Nov. 1.
He has served as CMO of VCU Health System since 2000. His interim duties will include providing leadership to VCU Medical Center in Richmond, including oversight of administration, patient care services and medical affairs.
He replaces Shane M. Cerone, who has served as interim CEO since January.
